Cut off from the sea by a series of towering mountain ranges, Wanaka is shielded from the coast’s wet weather and enjoys a dry climate with high sunshine hours. Wanaka is nestled on the shores of the pristine Lake Wanaka in the South Island’s high country (the region that formed the Middle Earth of the Lord of the Rings).
