Curio Bay Visitor Information
With scenic views, recreational values, and various wildlife in one small area, few places can offer what Curio Bay can. The idyllic bay is renowned for its Hector’s dolphins and rare yellow-eyed penguins. A short venture down the road, the small fishing settlement of Waikawa is also teeming with wildlife.
Curio Bay is located in the Catlins in the southern end of New Zealand's South Island. Curio Bay is best known as the site of a petrified forest that is around 180 million years old.
