Omarama is a small town located around 30km north of the Lindis Pass, near the southern end of the Mackenzie Basin, in the Waitaki District, and is in the Canterbury region. Omarama is a rural service centre, providing local farmers and other residents with facilities such as grocery stores, fuel, mechanical services and a post office. more
The town acts as a great base for those interested in the nearby activities, including fishing, tramping and snow sports. Omarama is Māori for "Place of Light", a reference to its extraordinarily pure and clear sky
